Pack n Dash
As part of Xploro, I created a lot of low-poly assets for various games and experiences designed for patient learning. Here’s an example level where I designed a game called Pack n Dash
For this Subway Surfers–style game, I built a stylised park-and-market environment system in Unity. The art direction aimed for a soft, Animal Crossing–inspired look, but we had a strict mobile GPU budget. The system used a single-pass shader combining diffuse, normal mapping, and a lightweight rim light, while maintaining material variety without increasing draw calls. I baked lighting into environment prefabs for better shadow quality and performance as they are randomly spawned into the scene. I also built trim sheets in Substance to minimise material count and pack UVs efficiently. The biggest challenge was getting baked lightmaps into prefabs before they were spawned, and working around issues with the curved-world shader.
The assets are made in Blender and textured in Substance Painter.
